In this month’s reading we will cover 1 Samuel 13 and 15. The events in these chapters illustrate Saul’s failures as a leader. As you read through this assignment, spend time meditating on and answering the following questions:

In this month’s reading we will cover 1 Samuel 13 and 15. The events in these chapters illustrate Saul’s failures as a leader. As you read through this assignment, spend time meditating on and answering the following questions:
- In chapter 13, what specific situation was Saul facing when he decided to offer the sacrifices himself? What reason does he give for offering these sacrifices? What reason would YOU give for his decision?
- In chapter 15, what was Saul told to do by Samuel? What factors played a role in his decision to spare Agag and the best sheep? What explanation does Saul give for sparing Agag and the best sheep?
- Compare Saul’s decisions (failure) in chapters 13 and 15. What’s similar about how he responded in both? What would you say was the real reason he failed as a king?
